RememberMe creates personalized memorial plaques and the online tribute pages they link to. Much of what you share with us is written in memory of someone you have lost, and we treat it with that in mind. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Memorial pages and content about the deceased
A memorial page can be reached by anyone who scans the QR code on the plaque or holds its link. You choose whether a memorial is public or restricted, and whether likes, comments and tributes are allowed. A public memorial can be viewed, and may be indexed by search engines, without signing in.
Please only publish information about a person who has died, or about living relatives named in a tribute, where you have the right to do so and are comfortable with it being seen by others. You can change a memorial's visibility, or unpublish it, at any time from your account.
Comments and tributes left by visitors are shown publicly alongside the memorial. As the person who created the memorial, you can remove them.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your first and last name, email address, phone number, country, delivery address and, if you upload one, a profile photo.
- Order details — the plaque you chose, engraving text, selected artwork and font, the name of the person being remembered, your relationship to them, and the delivery address for the order.
- Memorial content — photographs, dates of birth and passing, location, biography, obituary and any tributes or comments added to a memorial page.
- Messages — what you send through our contact form, product reviews you leave, and any support correspondence.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, operating system and app version.
- IP address, approximate location derived from it, and time zone.
- Pages and memorial pages viewed, and how you arrived at them.
- Diagnostic logs recorded when something goes wrong, so we can fix it.
Information from others
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that account. Our payment provider tells us whether a payment succeeded and gives us limited card details, such as the last four digits and card brand.
3. How we use your information
- To manufacture, engrave and deliver the plaques you order.
- To create, host and display memorial pages and their QR codes.
- To take payment, issue receipts and handle refunds.
- To send service messages — order confirmations, dispatch notices and review requests.
- To answer enquiries sent through the contact form or by email.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and investigate suspected fraud.
- To understand which parts of the service are used, so we can improve them.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use memorial content for advertising.
5. Payments and shipping
Payments are handled by our payment provider. Your full card number is entered on their systems and never reaches ours — we store only a reference to the transaction, the amount, the currency and the last four digits of the card.
Delivery is arranged through a shipping carrier, which receives the recipient name, address and contact details needed to complete the delivery. Both handle your information under their own privacy policies.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential — to keep you signed in, hold your cart and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. The service cannot work without these.
- Preference — to remember choices such as your country or currency.
- Analytics — to count visits and see which pages are used, in aggregate.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the site, including sign-in and checkout, from working.
7. How long we keep information
- Account and memorial content — for as long as your account is open. A memorial plaque is intended to last, so memorial pages remain available unless you unpublish or delete them.
- Order and payment records — for as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically several years after the order.
- Contact messages — while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Diagnostic logs — for a short period, then deleted or anonymised.
8. How we protect information
Traffic to and from our site and apps is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never in a readable form. Access to customer data is limited to staff who need it for their role, and administrative access is controlled by role-based permissions.
No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your account and the personal information attached to it.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where our use rests on consent.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
Most of this you can do from your account. For anything else, write to us using the details below and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows. Note that deleting your account does not automatically remove a memorial page that others rely on — tell us what you would like to happen to it.
10. Children's privacy
The service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. A memorial page may of course commemorate a child, and that content is provided by the adult who created it. If you believe a child has given us their own personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We operate internationally, and the providers who host our servers and store uploaded files may process information in a country other than your own. Where information leaves your region, we rely on the safeguards available under applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will change with it. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
